A practical guide to navigating Ayia Napa's nightlife areas — the square, Nissi strip, and harbour — and which venues are where.
Ayia Napa's nightlife is built on a compact grid. Every major club, bar, and restaurant is within roughly 1.5km of the main square. You can walk between virtually any two venues without getting in a taxi — most people just don't know which direction to walk until they've been once.
Understanding the geography before you arrive means you spend your nights actually going places rather than asking people on the street where things are at 2am.

The square itself is not a club. It is a large open plaza surrounded by bars, restaurants, and smaller music venues, with a central fountain area that becomes a general gathering point by midnight. The energy on the square at peak hours is high without being the intense, committed-to-dancing experience of the bigger clubs further along the strip.
What's here:
Napa Plaza Hotel is on the north side of the square and is the best meeting point in Ayia Napa. Tell your group to meet outside Napa Plaza and everyone will find it — it is visible from all sides of the square and well-lit.
Best used as: The warm-up zone. Start here at 10–11pm, get a couple of drinks, work out where your group wants to go, then move.
Walk south from the square along Makarios Avenue and within 400–500 metres you hit the cluster of venues that defines Ayia Napa nightlife for most visitors.
Castle Club is the largest nightclub on the island — capacity in the range of 3,500–4,000 across its outdoor terrace, main indoor room, and VIP section. It is the venue with the internationally recognised DJ bookings, the serious production (CO2 cannons, lighting rigs, confetti drops), and the longest hours of any venue on the strip (regularly running until 6–7am on peak nights).
Location: Accessible from Makarios Avenue, clearly signposted. The walk from the square takes 8–10 minutes. Taxis from the square cost €4–6.
Entry: €15–25 general admission, €40–55 for VIP wristband packages. Pre-booking online is cheaper than the door price and protects you from sold-out nights in peak season. Verify current prices before visiting.
The outdoor terrace: Open until around 3am, at which point the indoor room becomes the main event. The terrace is the better setting for a warm July or August night — it is worth arriving in time to experience it before it closes.
Hours: Variable by season, typically opens midnight, runs until 6am+ on peak nights. Always verify on the night's specific event listing.
Circus sits directly alongside Castle Club — the walk between them is literally across the car park.
A different proposition to Castle Club: smaller (around 2,000 capacity), less concerned with prestige DJ bookings, much more concerned with atmosphere, themed nights, and crowd participation. The foam party nights (usually Thursdays) and UV/neon nights (Fridays) are the signature events. The sound system in the main room is club-grade.
Entry: Typically €12–20, often 20–25% cheaper pre-booked.
The vibe: Higher energy per square metre than Castle Club, less sophisticated in the production sense. Genuinely fun, particularly for groups who want high energy over high-concept.

Bedrock is behind the Castle Club/Circus complex — multi-level, easier to navigate than the other two, and with a rooftop terrace that looks back over the whole strip area. It occupies the space between nightclub and bar-club, which makes it the most versatile venue on this part of the strip.
Entry €10–18. Good for groups that want to ease into the night or for the later portion when Castle Club and Circus are fully committed.
Nissi Avenue runs west from the square toward Nissi Beach, covering about 3km in total. The first 1–1.5km is lined with hotels, bars, and beach club venues that operate in the earlier part of the evening.
Aqua Beach Club sits roughly halfway between the square and Nissi Beach, positioned directly on the seafront. It is the best open-air venue on the Nissi Avenue stretch — decent sound system, beach access, and a crowd that tends to be slightly older (22–35) than the Castle Club strip. Opens earlier (10pm), closes earlier (3–4am). Works well as a first stop before heading to the square and Castle Club area later.
Hotels with bars on Nissi Avenue provide a lower-key alternative — some have pool bars and terraces that operate as semi-public spaces in the evenings. These are not nightclubs, but they work as a pre-drinks base if your accommodation is on this stretch.
Ayia Napa's old fishing harbour is about 10–12 minutes on foot due south from the square. Follow the signs toward the harbour along the pedestrianised coastal path.
What's here: The boat party operators (Fantasy Boat Party, Napa Queen, sunset catamarans, and others all depart from here), the best seafood restaurants, and a significantly quieter nightlife atmosphere than anywhere else in Ayia Napa.
The harbour is not a club destination. It is where you go for dinner before the night starts or breakfast after the night ends.
Vassos Fish Harbour Restaurant is on the waterfront and is the best seafood spot in Ayia Napa — fresh fish, good wine, tables on the harbour. Book ahead from June onwards for groups; walk-in is unreliable in peak season.
Walking: The honest answer is that you can walk everywhere. Castle Club from the square is 10 minutes. The harbour from the square is 12 minutes. Nissi Beach from the square is 35–40 minutes (which you don't walk at night — that's a taxi or bus).
The hop-on bus: A tourist circuit bus runs a route between the main square and the Castle Club / Circus area, typically operating from around midnight to 5am in peak season. Fare is approximately €3 per ride. Useful for the walk back at 4am when you are not feeling athletic.
Taxis: The main rank is on the north side of the square (beside Napa Plaza). Short trips within Ayia Napa — square to Castle Club, square to harbour — run €4–8. Agree the price before getting in; meters are not always used on short tourist runs.
Eating late: The souvlaki spots on the small streets just off the square are open until 3am and provide the best post-club food in Ayia Napa. The 24-hour bakery on Makarios Avenue is genuinely excellent at 5am and is one of Ayia Napa's quieter secrets.
