Cape Greco National Park — Sea Caves, Hikes & How to Get There (2026)

The sea caves are the headline attraction. A series of wave-carved limestone chambers sit at the waterline along the western face of the cape — accessible either by swimming in from the water or walking down from the cliff paths and scrambling over rocks to the entrance.

The most accessible cluster is signposted from the main Cape Greco car park. The walk from the car park takes about 20–25 minutes on well-maintained paths. The caves are best in the morning (light comes in from the east) and in calm sea conditions — when swell is up, the lower cave entrances flood and swimming in becomes genuinely dangerous.

Cliff jumping: There's a well-established jump spot near the caves at roughly 8–10 metres. It's popular, but assess conditions before going in — the swell direction can make the landing zone unpredictable.

On the eastern side of the cape, the Love Bridge is a natural rock arch that extends into the sea — not a built structure. According to local tradition, couples who walk out onto the bridge and make a wish together will see it come true. The approach is a short scramble from the path, and the views back toward Konnos Bay are excellent.

It's a genuinely beautiful spot and relatively uncrowded compared to the sea caves, since fewer visitors know where it is. Follow signs from the main park road or ask at the car park.

Cape Greco has several marked trails that range from 30 minutes to 2+ hours:

Aphrodite Trail (short loop, ~45 min): Starts at the main car park, circles the cape's tip, and returns. Good views throughout, minimal elevation change, clear signage. The best introduction to the park for casual walkers.

Coastal walk from Ayia Napa: A well-used coastal path connects Ayia Napa Harbour to Cape Greco — approximately 7km, 1.5–2 hours one way. It passes through several small coves and gives you views of MUSAN's underwater sculptures from above (look down into the clear water). Walking back, take a taxi (€10–15) or pre-arrange a pick-up.

Cape Greco to Konnos Bay route: The path continues along the eastern side of the cape down to Konnos Bay (a further 3–4km). Walking the full route and finishing at Konnos Beach for a swim is one of the better days out you can have in this part of Cyprus without spending much money.

The water around Cape Greco is among the clearest on the island. Depth drops quickly from the cliffs, visibility routinely reaches 20 metres in calm conditions, and the underwater topography — caves, arches, rock formations — is exceptional.

For snorkellers: The coves immediately north of the sea caves are the best entry points. Calm, sheltered, and interesting enough to spend an hour in the water. Bring your own mask and fins — there's no rental at the park itself.

For divers: Several dive operators in Ayia Napa run guided dives along the Cape Greco underwater wall. Suitable from Open Water level upward.

Organised snorkelling and kayak tours from Ayia Napa harbour include equipment, a guide, and transport — book at the harbour or through your hotel in advance in peak season.

Kayaking from Ayia Napa harbour to the sea caves is one of the best ways to experience the cape — you access cave entrances that are impossible to reach from the cliff paths, and the perspective from water level is completely different.

Most kayak tours are half-day (3–4 hours), include all equipment, and have a guide who knows the safest routes into the caves. Suitable for beginners in calm sea conditions.

Taxi: €10–15 from Ayia Napa centre to the Cape Greco car park. A reliable, fast option. Ask your driver to wait or book a return in advance.

Quad bike: The most popular way — 15 minutes from the strip and you can stop where you want. Rental approximately €25–35/half-day from hire shops on Makarios Avenue.

On foot (coastal path): 1.5–2 hours from Ayia Napa harbour along the cliff path. Rewarding if you have time and reasonable fitness. Bring water.

Car hire: Easiest for families or groups. Free parking at the main car park. Book car hire at Larnaca Airport in advance — peak season supply is limited.

There is no public bus to Cape Greco from Ayia Napa.

Go in the morning. The cliff walk is exposed and east-facing. Morning light is also better for photography and snorkelling visibility.

Bring water. There are no cafés or shops inside the park. The nearest food is back at Konnos Beach.

Wear walking shoes. The paths are rocky in sections. Flip flops will slow you down and make the cave approaches genuinely awkward.

Sunscreen: The park has no shade on the main paths. Factor 50 and a hat are not optional in summer.

Dogs: Permitted on leads in the national park.

Admission: Free — Cape Greco National Park has no entry fee.
