What Makes It Different

Spartiatis is a dedicated fish and seafood restaurant operating the way Cypriot fish tavernas have always worked: the catch comes in, you see what's available, you choose. The grill is charcoal. The fish is handled simply — olive oil, lemon, fresh herbs — because good fresh fish doesn't need anything more than that.

Where the tourist strip serves frozen calamari rings and a fixed menu that never changes, Spartiatis serves what came off the boats that morning. The difference is immediate and obvious the moment the food arrives.

Cliff Bar

After dinner at Spartiatis, the move is Cliff Bar — one of the genuinely unique drinking spots on the island.

What It Is

Cliff Bar is built into and around the cliffs on the rocky coastline east of Ayia Napa's main beach, toward Cape Greco. The bar occupies a series of cliff ledges and terraces cut directly into the rock face, with wooden decking and seating at multiple levels dropping down toward the sea. At sunset, the Eastern Mediterranean turns orange and pink below you while you drink.

It's the kind of place that gets photographed constantly and still somehow lives up to the photographs in person.

The Experience

The atmosphere shifts through the evening:

Early evening (18:00–20:00): Sunset crowd. Couples, small groups, people who've come specifically for the view. Relaxed, quieter, the light is exceptional. This is the best time if the view matters to you.

Pre-club (21:00–23:00): Energy builds. DJ or ambient music kicks in. Groups getting warmed up before heading to The Square. Drinks are flowing, atmosphere is alive, the cliff lights create a different but still spectacular scene.

Late (23:00+): Busy but manageable. If you're heading to the clubs after, this is the natural transition — the energy matches where the night is going.

Drinks

Cocktails are the main event — cliff-themed serves, frozen drinks, classic cocktails. Well-made and not outrageously overpriced for the location. Expect €10–14 for a cocktail, €5–8 for beer and spirits.

Getting There

Cliff Bar is on the coastal road east of the main Ayia Napa beach, accessible on foot from the town centre in about 15–20 minutes, or a €5–7 taxi. The approach path along the cliff is part of the experience — follow the rocky coastal trail rather than arriving entirely by road if you can.

Important: Wear shoes with some grip. The cliff paths are carved rock — flip flops are fine on flat surfaces but the walkways between terrace levels can be uneven.

The Full Evening: How to Do It

18:00 — Check in at Cliff Bar for sunset. One drink, the view, the light. Worth arriving before the sun actually goes down.

19:30 — Walk or taxi to Spartiatis for dinner. Book ahead if it's a weekend. Start with oysters and ouzo, then the Calamari Kontosouvli or the fish of the day.

21:30 — Back to Cliff Bar for pre-club drinks. The transformation in atmosphere from sunset to night is worth experiencing.
