Vyzakia (Βυζακιά) is a small, natural cove tucked between rocky headlands on the Cavo Maris stretch of Ayia Napa's eastern coastline. It has no sunbed operators, no beach bar, no facilities, and no bus route directly to it. This is precisely why it's worth going.
The water here is some of the clearest in the Ayia Napa area — the cove's enclosed geometry and rock-filter natural floor produce the kind of visibility that makes you feel like you're swimming in an aquarium. On a calm day you can see every stone on the bottom in 4 metres of water.

Surface: The beach is mixed — some sand at the centre, pebbles and flat rock platforms on the edges. The rock platforms are ideal for sunbathing (bring a mat) and jumping into deep water.
Water: The standout feature. Clear, calm, and cold relative to the more exposed beaches — the enclosed rocky walls keep the water shaded until midday and cool it slightly. Colour ranges from pale green in the shallows to deep blue at the centre of the cove.
Depth: Shallow at the sandy centre, drops quickly to 3–4 metres off the rock platforms on either side.
Vyzakia is not well-signposted — this is deliberate, and it's what keeps it quiet.
By car / moped: Take the road east from Ayia Napa town toward Cavo Maris. Follow the coastal road past the Cavo Maris area and look for the small informal parking area (a widened verge — no formal car park) above the rocky cliffs. A short path leads down through the scrubland to the cove. Google Maps "Vyzakia Beach Ayia Napa" will get you to within 100 metres.
On foot: 40–50 minutes from The Square following the coastal path east toward Cavo Maris. The path requires some scrambling over rocks to reach the cove — wear shoes that can get wet.
A hire car or moped is strongly recommended. Taxi works but you'll need to call for the return.
Because there are no facilities, Vyzakia requires planning:
The snorkelling here is genuinely excellent — better than Nissi, Makronisos, and most of the organised beaches. The rocky headlands on both sides of the cove drop into 4–6 metres of water with natural cave formations, large boulders, and dense marine life. Common sightings: sea bream, parrotfish, wrasse, sea urchins, starfish, and with some patience, octopus in the deeper crevices.
Bring your own gear or hire it from central Ayia Napa before driving out.
Vyzakia is known to local Cypriot families precisely because it stays quiet. Help keep it that way:
The best time to go: Early morning (before 09:00) in summer — the cove is often empty until 10:00–10:30, even in peak August. The morning light through the eastern cliff face is also excellent. Come back in the afternoon if you prefer the sun on the western rock platforms.

What to Bring
- Water and food — no beach bar, no café nearby. Bring everything you need for the day.
- A mat or towel — the rock platforms are more comfortable with something between you and the limestone.
- Snorkelling gear — the best snorkelling in the Ayia Napa area without taking a boat. The rocky walls and boulders host sea urchins, moray eels in the deeper crevices, and shoals of small fish visible from the surface.
- Shoes for the path — the coastal path has some scrambling; flip flops work but proper shoes are better.

- Take your litter with you — there are no bins
- Keep noise down — this is not a party beach
- The cove has limited space; if it's already busy when you arrive, come back another day or explore the nearby rocky coastline
